All set for ‘Zimba Night’

All is set for two nights of dance and fiesta at Airport Lounge tonight and tomorrow. Dubbed “Zimba Night”, the event would bring together models and dancers for serious partying that is set to ignite the venue that recently hosted the exciting “Samba Night”.Organisers of the event said they were inspired by the success of the “Samba Night” and decided to host a similar event with local dancers and models.

The concept is set to become a permanent feature at the joint and local dancers would explore other exciting foreign dances and prominent local dances.

A spokesperson of Divine Assignments, which is organising the event, said their patrons had enjoyed the “Samba Night” and requested for a repeat.

“We want to please our fans but it would be costly to bring dancers from Brazil for the show and we decided to engage our own dancers and models to go through similar paces,” said the spokesperson.

“There are some local choreographers that are good at various dances that would work with the models and dancers for the show.  People will see our local dancers moving in Samba paces and we know it would be an exciting night.

“The dancers would be clad in Samba outfits but we will also do our own dances to ensure that the act does not become completely foreign.
“We call it a ‘Zimba Night’ because we will also showcase local dances and the dancers are Zimbabweans.

“This event is just a response to public demand but we are hoping to make ‘Zimba Night’ an event that is mainly made of local dances.
“However, for this weekend’s show, people are likely to witness a repeat of the ‘Samba Night’.”

The organisers have teamed up with African Distillers to theme this first edition of the “Zimba Night” as Espirit party. Espirit cider would be on promotion and merrymakers are set to win several prizes.
