ANDY Rinomhota is back in the Warriors fold and ready to play his part as Zimbabwe begin their 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying campaign against Sierra Leone in Morocco this Thursday.
The midfielder has returned after missing about three national team camps, including withdrawing from the Warriors’ previous Afcon squad due to a family matter.
Now back in camp in Casablanca, Rinomhota says his focus is on helping Zimbabwe make a strong start to a crucial qualifying campaign that also pits them against the Democratic Republic of Congo and Equatorial Guinea in Group E.
“Yeah, it feels really good. It does feel like a long time since I have been away. Maybe I have missed three camps now,” said Rinomhota.
“So, I am really happy to be back and looking forward to the games ahead. I am just looking forward to trying to get a good start in these qualification games.”
The Warriors face Sierra Leone tomorrow before returning home for their second qualifier against DR Congo at the National Sports Stadium on 28 September.
With the two assignments coming in quick succession, Rinomhota believes the Warriors have little time to settle but has been encouraged by the mood and cohesion in camp.
“It’s been a really good start. I think it’s going to be a quick turnaround to get the training together and get acquainted with everyone.
“But I think, so far, the camaraderie has been really good between the squad. The relationship between the coaches and the players is already great.”
