The market fair is being organised by a local non-governmental organisation Zubo Trust in partnership with Intwasa Arts and Craft Festival and the Ministry of Women Affairs, Gender and Community Development.
The exhibition will be held at the Large City Hall car park.
Zubo Trust co-ordinator Mrs Rosemary Cumanzala said they were expecting more than 60 exhibitors.
“Preparations for the second Zimbabwe Market Fair are already at an advanced stage and they are going on well. Our expectations are quite high as we hope to bring in more than 60 exhibitors for the fair,” said Mrs Cumanzala.
She said one of the main objectives of the exhibition was to promote and market products from remote and rural areas.
Mrs Cumanzala said the market fair would create opportunities and linkages for rural businesspeople although the event was open to urban up- and-coming business people.
“The essence of the market fair is to promote and market products from rural areas so that they meet with investors and buyers. It is also meant to create business opportunities and links for rural business people but urban up-and- coming entrepreneurs and business people are welcome as well,” she said.
She said a wide array of products would be on display such as curios, crafts, dried foodstuffs, leather and textile products, among others.
The market fair is also open to Small to Medium Enterprises (SMEs) said Mrs Cumanzala.
She said the exhibition was being funded by numerous organisations among them United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).
The first exhibition was held in the city last year in December.
A total of 80 SMEs participated in last year’s market fair.
