Award-winning interdenominational choir Zimpraise has scaled up preparations for “The Second Coming” DVD launch. The show, which is scheduled to take place on New Year’s Day at Park Lane in Harare, will see prolific gospel artiste Mike Mahendere sharing the stage with the choir.

Zimpraise head of public relations, Tendai Zhou, told Herald Entertainment that he is happy with the progress so far as the red carpet event is taking shape behind the scenes.

“We will be launching our Season 8 DVD titled ‘The Second Coming’ which was recorded live at the HICC in October this year. The DVD has over 25 songs that have been arranged by our chief executive officer Joseph Madziyire.

“The songs come in two DVD sets featuring performances by Oliver Mtukudzi and other leading artistes. We are already rehearsing and the preparations are looking good,” Zhou said.

He said the event will begin at 4pm on January 1.

“The choir members will be part of the hosting team during the event which gives an opportunity for guests to meet and mingle with their favourite Zimpraise members,” he said.

Zhou, who is also one of the choir’s front men said the launch coincides with the group’s 10th Anniversary celebrations.

“Part of the launch will include commemoration of the journey for the past 10 years in music. We will give an insight to what we have planned for 2016 in celebration of Zimpraise At 10 Years,” Zhou said.

He added: “We are going to host an honourary awards ceremony courtesy of Joseph Madziyire. “The ceremony will honour outstanding achievements and efforts within the choir, local and international fans.”

Earlier this year, the choir was invited to perform at the Megafest conference in United States after Bishop TD Jakes was impressed by their performance in London last year.

Bishop Jakes said that he had been praying for something exciting to do for Megafest and had decided to invite Zimpraise.

The award-winning group has been in existence for the past decade under the watchful eye of founder and award-winning producer Joseph Madziyire.

They rose to fame with their hit “Sungano” which they performed across Africa.
