adminIn an interview, the ZNCC regional manager Mr Bulisani Ncube said about 250 people had confirmed their participation with more still coming in to register.
“The response has been amazing as more than 250 participants have already booked and more are still coming for enquiries.
“This is more than what we had expected and we are quite excited about the event which will be there at six in the evening this coming Friday (today),” he said.
He said ZNCC will be rewarding winners in different categories for their business efforts and achievements this year.
“There are going to be 13 categories that include the Exporter of the Year in sectors that include mining, agriculture and manufacturing, Tour Operator of the Year, Businesswoman and Businessman of the Year, Best Corporate Social Responsibility and many others.
“Winners from each category will qualify to compete in the regional awards that will be held in Bulawayo in March next year,” Mr Ncube said.
He said preparations were at an advanced stage as sponsorship from stakeholders was coming in nicely.
“We are so happy about the progress we have made so far and we are positive that the event will be a success as this year’s turnout is more than other years,” he said.
Mr Ncube said the selection process of nominees was completed and the venues were in order as they wait for the day.
“Nominees were selected considering aspects such as good corporate citizenry and the ability to meet statutory obligations as well as innovativeness and growth.
He said their vision in doing this was to encourage business people to work hard, develop and come up with new ideas to improve the face of business in Zimbabwe.
“The point is to encourage businesspeople to positively contribute to the growth of the economy so these awards create competitiveness hence high productivity and quality,” he said.
He said the guest speaker will be a senior official from Cabs who will also speak on loans they are offering which range between $5 000 and $50 000.
