THE Government has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening social dialogue between labour, business and the State, saying it values the cross-pollination of ideas generated through the Tripartite Negotiating Forum (TNF).
Speaking at the Zimbabwe Tripartite Negotiating Forum Global Summit in Victoria Falls on Wednesday, Minister of Energy and Power Development July Moyo, who is leading the Government arm in the TNF, said the gathering would culminate in a global declaration.
“We gather here as a global family to deliberate on issues that I believe will end up with a global declaration, the Victoria Falls Declaration,” he said.
Minister Moyo traced the journey from the Kadoma Declaration, through which Zimbabweans resolved to form tripartism as an instrument of economic development, and expressed confidence that the new declaration would be strengthened by Government enacting a social partnership signed by business, labour and the State.
He said seven Government ministries engage in tripartism, led by the Minister of Finance, Economic Development and Investment Promotion, who was absent as he is in New York with President Mnangagwa.
“I am glad to represent him, and I am glad that all our social partners are fully represented,” Minister Moyo said.
He said Zimbabwe was eager to learn from practitioners who have walked the journey, including countries that have transitioned from economic difficulties to prosperity.
“We value the information that we are getting from here and I can tell you that from East, to Morocco, to China, all of us must learn from each other,” he said.
The summit is expected to produce the Victoria Falls Declaration, which will guide social partnership frameworks globally.
