The Zimbabwe union of Journalists (ZUJ) will host its first-ever Kariba Bream Braai Festival on Saturday to raise money for its operations.
The festival is being organised by the ZUJ Kariba Chapter with the support of the union’s national executive.
ZUJ is partnering Thorngrow Investment to ensure the event’s success.
ZUJ secretary-general Perfect Hlongwane encouraged other chapters to follow in Kariba’s footsteps.
“This initiative aims to help us raise funds for the sustainability of the union,” Hlongwane said. “As you know, the donor community is currently fatigued, so we need to develop mechanisms that do not rely on donor funding.”
He also urged the corporate sector to support the initiative, which offers opportunities for interaction with media personnel.
The Kariba Bream Braai Festival promises to be an exciting event, featuring a lineup of well-known musicians.
Among the performers are Dendera legend Allan Chimbetu, Jah Signal, Van Choga, and Tendai Dembo. Chimbetu expressed his eagerness to energise the resort town.
In addition to the musical performances, attendees will have the opportunity to win a brand-new Toyota Aqua.
The festival dovetails with the Government’s drive to promote domestic tourism.
