THE Air Force of Zimbabwe has donated clothing and stationery worth $3 500 to various children and old people’s homes in Gweru.
It was all joy and smiles as beneficiaries from the Queen of Peace Children’s Home, Kushinga Primary School, Batanai Old People’s Home received the donations at a handover ceremony which was held at Queen of Peace Children’s home.
Gweru Airforce base commander Group Captain Elisha Masakadza said they decided to donate to the less privileged after realising that this year people are focusing much on buying food other than clothing and stationery due to poor a harvest.
He said they have previously donated to the less privileged in Gokwe and they would continue assisting the needy through fundraising initiatives.
The founder of the Queen of Peace Children’s Home Mrs Stella Punungwe said the donation gives hope to the less privileged.
“This is a gesture to show everyone in the community that being less privileged doesn’t mean that you are no longer a human being. These people need to be taken good care of. l would like to thank Commander Masakadza for his support. He always help us with labour. May the Lord bless him,” said Mrs Punungwe.
