All systems go for Sanganai/Hlanganani/Kumbanayi World Tourism Expo 2025

PRESIDENT Mnangagwa is expected to officially open the 18th edition of Sanganai/Hlanganani/Kumbanayi World Tourism Expo this morning at Mutare Sports Club, marking a significant moment for Zimbabwe’s tourism sector.
The 2025 edition of the Sanganai/Hlanganani/Kumbanayi World Tourism Expo is being held under the theme: “Devolving Sustainable Tourism Development—Our Future”, and is aimed at showcasing the country’s unique tourism offerings, foster business connections, and drive investments in the industry.
President Mnangagwa has emphasised tourism’s growing role in Zimbabwe’s economy, contributing to a Gross Domestic Product (GDP) surge from US$16 billion in 2018 to US$44 billion in 2025. His vision for the sector focuses on sustainability, community involvement, and showcasing Zimbabwe’s unique traditions and values.
The event promises to be a vibrant celebration, following a colourful carnival that kicked off the Expo in Mutare, featuring traditional dances, music, and local performances. This opening marks an exciting moment for Zimbabwe’s tourism industry, with potential for new partnerships and growth.
A sunny midweek morning permeating here in Mutare presents perfect conditions for the global tourism expo hitting top gear today as Tourism and Hospitality Industry Minister, Hounarable Babra Rwodzi, Minister of Manicaland Provincial Affairs and Devolution, Advocate Misheck Mugadza are also expected to make speeches during the official opening proceedings.
To date, 83 companies from 20 countries have confirmed their participation as buyers and exhibitors.
The countries include Botswana, Ghana Kenya Malawi, Namibia, South Africa, Tanzania, Indonesia, United Arab Emirates, China, South Korea, India, Hong Kong, Germany, France, Italy, Switzerland, Spain, the United Kingdom and the United States of America.
In addition to these international participants, 12 local companies will be engaging directly with these international buyers and exchanging knowledge, products and services to foster business linkages and investment opportunities.
Overall, the Expo will feature a total of 420 exhibitors representing both domestic and international tourism stakeholders.
