ALL roads will tomorrow (Saturday) be leading to Mutema Secondary School in Chipinge where the ruling ZANU PF will be launching its national campaign and set the stage for vigorous grassroots mobilisation as it guns for a landslide victory in the harmonised elections slated for August 23.

The President and First Secretary of the Party, Dr Emmerson Mnangagwa, will officiate at the national campaign launch — the first of its kind in Manicaland — a province that suffered the brunt of the liberation struggle due to its proximity to freedom fighters’ training camps in Mozambique.

The August 23 elections will give Zimbabweans an opportunity to elect a strong crop of leaders — the President, members of the National Assembly and councillors — to get the job done for the next five years.

ZANU PF Manicaland provincial chairman, Cde Tawanda Mukodza said preparations are at an advanced stage and they are ready to host President Mnangagwa and his entourage for the national campaign launch.

Cde Mukodza said they are expecting a bumper crowd to attend the national campaign launch.

He thanked President Mnangagwa for choosing Manicaland for the launch.

“We feel honoured to host such an important event like the national campaign launch at Mutema Secondary School in Mutema-Musikavanhu Constituency in Chipinge.

“It is a major boost for the party in Manicaland. It will leave us rejuvenated, confident and raring to go,” said Cde Mukodza.
He said ZANU PF has fielded candidates in all 26 constituencies and 260 wards in Manicaland, and will defeat the opposition in a free, fair and peaceful election.

He reiterated President Mnangagwa’s call for peace before, during and after the harmonised elections.

“We will mobilise a bumper crowd for the President. The President and First Secretary of the party, Dr ED Mnangagwa, will give us the direction of travel with respect to the elections bid and the mobilisation thereof.

“After this, we will embark on massive and peaceful campaigns across the 26 constituencies in Manicaland. The party has invested and allocated a vehicle in each constituency, which shows our determination to win all the 26 seats and wards,” he said.

Cde Mukodza said the elections are crucial in determining the leadership of the country for another five years, and ZANU PF members in the province have swiftly picked up the pieces after the recent primary elections and forged a united front for the harmonised elections.

“We are ready to face the foreign sponsored opposition in all its manifestations across the 26 constituencies in the province. To ZANU PF, victory is certain. I will not set a ceiling on our ambitions in terms of the number of voters for the President and the party.

“Our minimum target is 800 000 votes. That shows we are poised for a resounding victory in which the opposition in all its manifestations will be buried in the same way a geological landslide buries whatever is in its path.

“This is a time for hope, for positivity and for optimism. We are securing the future for all. People want politics to work for them and their families, and only ZANU PF can do that.

“The people want investments in a health system that works, the very best childcare and education and strong local municipal services.

“They want economic opportunities realised so that our young people and women can have a good future, and all this can only be achieved through ZANU PF,” said Cde Mukodza.
