All systems go for ZITF showjumping

ALL is in place for this year’s Zimbabwe International Trade Fair showjumping tournament that will run from Tuesday to Saturday. Matabeleland Show Jumping Association Chairperson Paula Dakin said the event, which will be held at the showgrounds, will have a dressage and show jumping classes with few riders coming from Harare. Dakin said the event had attracted a foreigner, Bob Lacey from South Africa, who was also a course builder. International renowned, Lacey has vast experience in the showjumping discipline.
“This year we will be holding dressage and showjumping. We are expecting quite a few riders from Harare as this year they have not travelled south for the Easter Festival in Johannesburg. We have a course builder coming from Hillcrest, South Africa, Bob Lacey,” she said.

Dakin said due to the change in dates of the ZITF, some riders will not take part in the show as they had already made arrangements for their holidays.
However, Lacey said they were still expecting stiff competition from the local riders and a bigger competition..

Prominent showjumpers that are expected to feature at this year’s show are Koo Mkandla, Matie Coetzee, Celeste Wright, Gail Holden and Kerry Watson.
