Dendera musician Allan Chimbetu has abandoned his band Orchestra Dendera Kings Central Committee due to waning fortunes to join his son’s band. His son Douglas confirmed he has just employed his father as a backing vocalist. This is not the first time Allan has abandoned his group for a lesser role at another band following his stint with nephew Suluman Chimbetu.

Douglas welcomed his father to his new role.

“Just like what he did at Suluman’s camp he will be a backing vocalist and we are glad to be working together as a family,” said Douglas.

He added that the move was a major boost to his camp and they have already lined up some shows.

“Shows are on their way and as I speak I have been talking to him updating him on the shows lined up for the weekend.”

Allan confirmed the development saying he has decided to assist his son.

“I will be assisting him for a while and shows have been lined up for the two of us,” said Chimbetu.

“Sometimes people blow it out of proportion but I don’t see any problem in working with my son.”

Allan refused to disclose problems bedeviling his band but sources say he has been having problems with his manageress Abigail Kuleya.

Kuleya refused to comment on the issue saying the band was on leave.

“We are resting at the moment. Ask Allan about that issue. He knows better,” she said.

Some of Allan’s band members are said to have moved to Tryson Chimbetu’s group.
