Titled “Audience”, the play is an absurdtragicomic drama depicting a long meeting between Ferdinand Vanek, anintellectual and playwright fallen in disgrace and living under statesurveillance, and a manager of a brewery Vanek is forced to work in.
Tafadzwa Hananda played the role of Ferdinand, while Charles Mucheriwa takes up the role of the disgruntled brewery foreman, who drowns his sorrows in beer.
Susan Hains directed the play that was produced by Complete Arts Project under the guidance of Peter Churu, who is a renowned theatre guru.
“We are honoured to be participating in this prestigious event, where we are taking part in this historical process,” said Peter.
Václav Havel was a Czech playwright, essayist, poet, and politician.
He was the ninth and last president of Czechoslovakia (1989-1992) and the first president of the Czech Republic (1993-2003).
He wrote more than 20 plays and numerous non-fiction works, translated internationally.
