ALLIED Timbers has appointed Dr Daniel Sithole as chief executive, effective January 1. With over 13 years of dedicated service at senior levels in forestry and the timber industry in Zimbabwe, Dr Sithole has worked for various companies, including the Forestry Commission.
Allied is a wholly owned State enterprise involved in timber plantations and processing.
It falls under the purview of the Ministry of Environment, Water and Climate.
Dr Sithole has replaced former chief executive Dr Joseph Kanyekanye, who left the group in February last year following a fall out with the board that was led by Mr Emmanuel Fundira.

Allied chairman Mr Itayi Ndudzo confirmed the appointment of the new chief executive, saying Dr Sithole’s extensive experience in timber and forestry business was a “perfect fit” for the group, which is facing a number of operational challenges.
Dr Sithole would share his vision in due course.
In November last year, the acting CEO said the company was looking at doubling export revenue in the first quarter of this year, taking advantage of the growing demand for timber in Mozambique and Zambia.
He said exports were contributing 20 percent to the company’s revenue but the increase in demand for timber in Mozambique and Zambia will see regional sales accounting for 40 percent.
Allied has three divisions – Allied Timbers Zimbabwe, Allied Timbers Saligna and Altim Zimbabwe.
Its operations involve plantations, harvesting, and processing, marketing and selling of both pine and gum.
Its operations are concentrated mainly in the Eastern Highlands and the Midlands.
The company specialises in sawn timber, poles, and various other value added timber-based products such as doors, flooring timber and blackboards.
