AMABHUBESI will square off with Kilmanock in the Southern Region Five-A-Side End of Year Cup final to be played at Grassroots Soccer Football for Hope Centre in Gwabalanda on December 2.
On their way to the final, Amabhubesi beat Flying Stars 6-4, while Kilmanock thumped Fox 7-2 in semi-final matches played last Sunday.
Southern Region Five- A-Side League chairman Philani Banda said he was impressed with the talent he has witnessed in the competition.
“Our season got off to a good start and teams have translated that level of competition to cup games. We expect an interesting encounter in the final because both teams have shown hunger to win,” said Banda.
He said there will be prizes to be won for top teams as well as individual honours for best performances.
Worldwide, five a-side football is played on a smaller field and mainly indoors between two teams of five players each, one of who is a goalkeeper and unlimited substitutions are permitted.
Five a-side football is played with a smaller ball that has less bounce compared to a regular football due to the surface of the field.
The surface, ball and rules create an emphasis on improvisation, creativity and technique as well as ball control and passing in small spaces.
