amaBooks launch Siqondephi Manje?

THE much-awaited Ndebele version of the English short story anthology Where to Now, Short Stories from Zimbabwe is out and will be launched on Saturday at the National Gallery of Zimbabwe in Bulawayo. The anthology’s translation from English to isiNdebele began last year and avid literature lovers have been waiting for the completion of the project.

The book, a collection of 16 short stories is aptly titled Siqondephi Manje? Indatshana zaseZimbabwe.
The book, first published in 2011 by Bulawayo book publishers, amaBooks was translated into IsiNdebele by South Africa-based Dr Thabisani Ndlovu.

Ndlovu will be present at the launch which will coincide with the Zimbabwe International Book Fair.
A director of amaBooks, Jane Morris said a lot of people had been enquiring about the book in the past weeks.

Brian Jones,also of ‘amaBooks said: “We are excited to be publishing our first book in isiNdebele; our other 30 titles have all been in English. Where to Now? has been very well received in Zimbabwe and elsewhere.

“We felt that those who are more at ease in isiNdebele than in English should be given the opportunity to enjoy these stories,” he said.
Jones also added that Siqondephi Manje? will soon be available as an e-book, both within and outside Zimbabwe.

The printed book will be sold in Zimbabwe, South Africa, the United Kingdom and in North America.
