Amagagasi, Blackrock clash in Matabeleland North league encounter

SECOND placed Amagagasi will hope that Hwange side Blackrock’s sudden poor form in the league continues when the two sides clash in a Zifa Matabeleland North Division Two encounter at Sports Pavilion this afternoon.
The resort town outfit are involved in an intriguing two-horse race for the championship crown with table leaders Makomo FC.

Four points separate the two teams, a statistic that has reflected on the table standings for over two months now.

The Ndoga Nyoni coached Amagagasi will expect rich pickings from a disjointed Blackrock outfit who have lost two games on the trot to Makomo 1-3 and ZRP Hwange 0-3 last weekend at their once dreaded Sports Pavilion turf.

Carlos Mudimba, Lungile Nyathi and Mordecai Moyo are expected to harass the Blackrock rear-guard the entire afternoon.

The hosts will hope that the usually reliable Abraham Mutotera, Clifford Phiri, Mernard Manyevere and Blessed Njekwa wake up from their deep slumber to shock the visitors.

The epic duel between Prison Eagles and Makomo at Prison Stadium will certainly convert the Amagagasi supporters into a prayerful lot as they look up to the heavens for divine intervention to help the wardens cause a major upset and derail the miners’ march towards the winners’ podium.

Eagles should watch out for the likes of Barnas Mudimbu, Lawrence Khumbula, Lloyd Chimuchenga and Peter Gani if they are to get a result. Army side Moto Moto travel to Madumabisa Stadium to face Kamandama Celtics hoping to rediscover their shooting abilities that characterised the early part of their campaign.

The fact that Moto Moto is the only team to have beaten Makomo this season is great testimony of the soldiers’ spectacular fall from grace after a blistering start.

At Chakona Stadium, Ingagula FC will have to be very alert at their base to stop Classic Luyando who are on fire these days.

Lwendulu’s Old ground will host a potentially explosive derby match pitting Iwisa and Hwange Under-17s. Tomorrow, an electrifying atmosphere will be expected at Megawatt Stadium when Baobab Rovers welcome the menacing ZRP Hwange. Players like midfield workhorse Gideon Makotose, Mandlenkosi Ndlovu, Timothy Chuma and Denzel Kutadza who orchestrated Blackrock’s demolition last week, are expected to inspire the policemen.

Rovers on the other hand are very unpredictable with the likes of captain Mandlenkosi Ndlovu, Francis “Lunchbar” Mbewe, Isaac Maphosa and Anywhere “Xavi” Dube all with the potential of leaving the police outfit “handcuffed” after the match.
