DIVISION One football hopefuls Amagagasi FC consolidated their lead at the top of the Zifa Matabeleland North Division Two League with an away victory over whipping boys Brazil in a match played at Makwika Stadium last Sunday.Raymond Gumbo and Blessed Bhebhe scored two first half goals to seal the game for the resort town outfit to leave the once-feared Brazil rooted at the bottom of the log with only a point from nine games.

Not to be outdone, Makomo FC kept the pressure on Amagagasi with an important victory over fading title challengers Baobab Rovers in a tense match played at Megawatt Stadium on the same day.

In a thrilling game  well handled by recently qualified Class One referee Bonamali Bwanali, Makomo surged into comfort zone in the first half through goals by Richard Mwalugale  and Lloyd Chimuchenga only for the power generators to come back from the breather super-charged to pull one back through Shaun “General” Phumulo.

Only poor finishing denied Rovers a chance to achieve a dramatic comeback in the epic duel.

Elsewhere Prison Eagles and Hwange Under-17s settled for a 0-0 draw at the Prison Stadium while Broncos Africa were subjected to a baptism of fire by Victoria Falls Tigers at Chinotimba Stadium in a 5-0 clobbering. Thabani Ndlovu scored a brace while Albert Lunga, Fredrick Shoko and Fredrick Phiri chipped in with the other goals to complete the rout.

At Madumabisa Stadium, Kamandama Celtic edged Corithians 2-1 with their goals coming from Calvin Shoko and Brendon Shoko while Lesley Mulenga pulled one back for the visitors in the dying minutes.

Army side Moto Moto continued with their fine run after they thrashed Zambezi Lions 4-1 at Sports Pavilion.

Gift Sibanda scored a brace while Shaibar Dimingu and Tiripano Zhou chipped in with a goal apiece while Wesley Dube scored the consolation for the Victoria Falls visitors. Iwisa and Classic Luyando completed the busy Sunday programme with a date at Lwendulu Old ground.

Nkosiyabo Sibanda’s brace and Jealous Ndlovu gave Luyando a comfortable lead in the first half with a double strike from Iwisa’s top goal scorer Moses Gama proving insufficient for Tafi Nengasha’s boys to snatch a valuable point. In one of Saturday’s two matches, ZRP Hwange hammered Blackrock 4-1 with goals coming from Decent Sibanda, Denzel Kutadza, Banana Muzamba and Timothy Chuma while Clifford Phiri grabbed the consolation for bulky coach Tichaona Mfandaedza’s boys.

Ingagula beat Fire FC 2-0 at Chakona Stadium with goals coming from the boots of Joel Mpala and Tapiwa Kajujuma.
