CHAPUNGU have vowed to upset the applecart and hand high flying Hwange their second defeat of the season when the two sides clash in a premiership match at Ascot Stadium this afternoon.Hwange lead the table with 14 points and have only tasted defeat once in a 0-2 drubbing at the hands of How Mine.
Chipangano have won four matches and drawn the remainder in the seven games they have played so far.
On the other hand, Chapungu are still unbeaten at home and will want to bounce back to winning ways after a two-match drawing streak in which they shared spoils with Chiredzi in a 0-0 stalemate away at Chishamiso Stadium a fortnight ago.
“Waru Waru” had earlier drawn one all against Shabanie Mine in a Midlands derby.
John Nyikadzino, the Chapungu mentor, conceded Hwange are a good side but said the fact that his side is playing at home will give them an edge and walk away with three points.
“Hwange is the best team on the local front at the moment and it’s no fluke that they are at the summit of the table. It is unfortunate that they are coming to Ascot (Stadium) because they will go away empty handed,” he said.
Chapungu, who still have chief striker Brighton Mugoni out with an ankle injury, welcome the duo of Courage Muzire and exciting winger Rodwell Mhlanga who were serving two-match suspensions. The two players were red carded in their side’s 1-0 win over defending champions Dynamos on May Day.
The coalminers troop into Ascot Stadium a heavily depleted side as they would be missing the services of four of their key players-Warriors defender Eric Chipeta, David Boriwondo, Isaac Masame and the club’s top goal scorer Alick Marime.
Despite the setback, Hwange gaffer Nation Dube contends that he has equally good replacements who can come to the party in the absence of the regulars.
