Amakhosi Cultural Centre is today, Wednesday, hosting the inaugural Arts Administrators’ High Tea, a new platform aimed at celebrating the crucial work of behind-the-scenes players in Zimbabwe’s arts sector.
The event, organised by Gobela Arts Development Agency, is bringing together leading figures in the arts industry to map out a sustainable and professional future for the sector.
With the theme “Celebrating Creative Leadership,” the gathering spotlights administrators, curators, promoters, funders, policy influencers and other key cultural stakeholders from across Zimbabwe and the Southern African region.
Founded earlier this year by Bulawayo-based artiste and entrepreneur Bothwell Nkomo — popularly known as Gog Bekezela — Gobela Arts Development Agency – seeks to empower local creatives and raise standards within the arts industry.
Gog Bekezela said the high tea serves as a timely tribute to those who work behind the curtain of the creative economy.
“This curated high-level gathering will celebrate the unsung heroes of the creative sector, facilitate networking and collaboration and spark strategic conversations around sustainability, policy and innovation in the arts,” he said.
The event is also honouring cultural leaders who have played a significant role in shaping, sustaining and growing Zimbabwe’s creative institutions.
