AFRO-JAZZ musician Jeys Marabini was recently bestowed with a prestigious Lifetime Achievement award at the Amaqhawanentaba  FM Music Awards ceremony which was held in South Africa last month.

The legendary musician was recognised for his outstanding contributions to the music industry.

As Marabini was not present to receive his award, the award was sent to him and he feels appreciated and grateful for it.

He expressed his gratitude to fans for their unwavering support throughout his musical journey.

“I’m so excited and honoured to be recognised in a foreign country. I’m grateful for what the Amaqhawanentaba Music Awards are doing to honour musicians all over. The award shows that I’ve worked hard and I’m happy that people are recognising it.

“Receiving this award shows that people are behind me and support me and this gives me strength to go forward.”

He added that it feels great to be appreciated while he is still alive.

“This award is going to make a lot of impact as I go on. It’ll also encourage the youngsters and up-and-coming musicians that these are the rewards of working hard. There’s no price that can reach this recognition. To be recognised like this means everything to me because it means I have done a lot,” said a grateful Marabini.

Jeys Marabini’s win at the Amaqhawanentaba Music Awards serves as a testament to his unwavering commitment to his craft.

In their third edition, the awards are a brainchild of South Africa-based online radio station, Amaqhawanentaba which is run by locals. They seek to honour artistes from the SADC region. – @TashaMutsiba
