Amavevane back Ndlela

seek a second term as chairman of Bosso during elections scheduled for early February next year.
Ndlela is a member of Amavevane, which has a membership of 55 and provides about 25 percent of the voters who usually number just under 400.
Amavevane chairman and Bulawayo businessman Jonfet Sibanda confirmed the members’ resolution.
“As a club which has always been Highlanders, we have agreed to back Ndlela as he seeks a second term as Highlanders chairman. He is our member as Amavevane and we have resolved to back him in his bid to seek a second term,” said Sibanda.
He said Ndlela could have made some errors during his term of office but as a club they were convinced his good far outweighed the mistakes he made so he deserved to be given a second chance.
“As a member of Amavevane, Ndlela’s success and failures are also ours hence our support.
“Our position is that whoever is in that position should be allowed to at least complete his projects,” said Sibanda.
Contacted for comment, Ndlela said as a member of Amavevane he remained bound by his colleagues’ decision.
Ndlela, who beat Bulawayo businessman Mandla Moyo by less than 20 votes in the 2009 elections, is likely to meet the same challenger again in next year’s elections.
Moyo has been quoted in some sections of the media confirming his candidature although he recently told this publication that he was still consulting.
Former secretary Peter Dube, whose name had initially been touted, has said he is not interested in the post.
The other posts which will be up for grabs next year are that of the powerful secretary’s post, held by Andrew Tapela, and the committee member’s post.
Former team medic and manager Emmet Ndlovu has publicly declared his intention to challenge Tapela while former Highlanders players have approached the outgoing team manager Jerry Sibanda to also contest the secretary’s post.
Sources though said plans were at one time mooted to retain Sibanda in his post to avoid him seeking a higher office.
The late club chairman, James Mangwana Tshuma’s son, Jabulani Tshuma, recently confirmed his intention to contest the committee member’s post.
Tshuma and Mabhena, if he stands, will also face the challenge of former club marshal Dingani Sibanda.
