AMAZULU assistant coach Wilfred “Silver Fox” Mugeyi’s credentials received a boost when he guided his side to a 3-2 victory over Bloemfontein Celtic at the weekend.
The former Black Aces star said the result would definitely bring confidence to his team which has only managed to draw three games out of the seven Absa Premiership games played so far.

The results were incensing their loyal fans and management thought it was no longer safe for head coach Craig Rosslee to continue with his job.
Mugeyi said Rosslee is still the team’s coach and believes he is the right man to lead the team.

The former Warriors striker told Chronicle Sport on Sunday night: “The Telkom Cup win really lifted the team’s spirits, it was our aim to go through to the quarter-finals. Believe me anything can happen from now. At the moment we are going to the drawing board to encourage players, especially for our next home league game at Moses Mabhida against Chippa United in two weeks time.”

Mugeyi admitted that Usuthu is going through a rough time as they are struggling to collect maximum points since the league started.
He said players must now approach all games as a cup final.

Mugeyi might find himself taking over the hot seat as the team’s caretaker coach for the rest of the season if the team decides to fire Rosslee.
Carlington Nyadombo played the full game and Tapuwa Kapini was on the bench when they beat Celtic.

Telkom knockout Cup quarter-final draw
