ONE of Zimbabwe’s leading amateur golfers, Braydon Amm is in Scotland for the 2024 R&A Junior Open which tees off today at Kilmarnock (Barassie) Golf Club.
Amm is among one of the best young talents from around the globe who were selected to compete in the biennial event, to which all golfing nations affiliated to The R&A take part. The year’s event has a field of 120 players from 70 countries.
“We would like to wish Braydon Amm, one of our junior golfers, good luck in the R&A Junior Open. The tournament will provide Braydon with the exposure that he needs in order to develop his game,” said Zimbabwe Golf Association (ZGA) administrator and executive member, Tirivashe Nheweyembwa.
The R&A Junior Open is a precursor to The Open Championship which will be played at the Royal Troon until July 21. The Open is golf’s original championship. Played since 1860 on iconic links golf courses, it is the sport’s most international major championship with qualifying events on every continent. For one week each year, the pursuit of the famous Claret Jug trophy is the focus of the sporting world, followed globally by millions of fans.
