Angel Eaton grabs women’s Zim Open

 

Eaton said competition was tough but she managed to hang on.

“The game was tough but I managed to keep my composure and win;” Eaton said.
“I am happy for the ZLGU for hosting the tournament and I hope I will be there to defend my title next year.” Eaton collected the coveted 2013 ZLGU Open Strokeplay Championship on a superb 231 points, four strokes better than pre-tournament favourite Batsirai Tilowakuti, who finished on 235.

The Championship and A Divisions took part in a 54-hole battle over three-days while the B and C divisions played 36 holes.
The “A” division’s Budget Harvey Trophy was won by Loveness Chandavengerwa on 263, with Chola Oka counting out Nicki Lashbrook after they had finished tied on 271.

In the “B” division, Rodna Mutasa was the winner on 178 while Nina Geyser was runner-up on 187.
Liz Cuerden on 74 was the winner in the “C” Division’s Civil Cup,  with junior golf player M.T. Nyamukondiwa the runner-up on 68.
Foreign players are now dominating the ZLGU Open Championship since the best local female golfer,Claire Minter, quit the sport.
