MRS Angela Chimbetu, widow to Sungura ace Simon, who died on Saturday, is set to be buried today at Warren Hills cemetery. Angela died at Chitungwiza Central Hospital where she was admitted for more than a week after collapsing at her husband’s commemorations held in the Harare Gardens recently.

Family spokesperson Suluman Chimbetu said all was set for the burial.
“We have already collected the body from the funeral parlour,” he said. “Everything is on course for her burial at Warren Hills Cemetery tomorrow (today),” he said.

Musicians from the Chimbetu family —Suluman, Tryson, Douglas and Allan — cancelled their weekend shows to attend the funeral.
Suluman thanked music promoters who donated a beast for the funeral.

“I want to thank Chipaz, Josh Hozheri and Mama Red Rose who donated a cow,” he said.
Angela could not attend the Heroes Day event and the commemorative gig held in Chinhoyi during the Heroes holiday in honour of her husband.
Chimbetu was declared a provincial hero and his life is celebrated on Heroes Day together with other heroes and heroines.

Angela had been in and out of hospital in recent weeks as a result of high blood pressure, a situation which some people have attributed to the hectic programme in the run-up to her late husband’s commemoration gigs.

Born in 1974, Angela is survived by her son Kudzi.
