FOR 16-year-old Terry Angelos, making Team Zimbabwe for the Dakar 2026 Youth Olympic Games is a dream come true.
Angelos will represent the country in equestrian as one of 11 athletes that will be carrying the nation’s hopes and pride at the Games to be held between October and November in Senegal.
“It’s always been a dream for me to go to the Youth Olympics.
“I have heard stories about the Youth Olympics and it always sounded so amazing.
“I always wanted to go from a young age. When I was told I am going, I was ecstatic. I was so excited,” said Angelos.
He has already begun working on ensuring he is ready for the Games.
“In Senegal we ride borrowed horses. So I am trying to get used to riding different horses and getting to know how it feels to ride other horses.
“Once we have done that, we are going to go ride different horses in Zimbabwe, also train in South Africa a bit and get some more experience.
“I hope to represent Zimbabwe as best as I can and be the best ambassador for Zimbabwe. I will do well and show everyone who I am and who Zimbabwe is and obviously try to get a medal for Zimbabwe,” Angelos said.
Zimbabwe will field athletes in athletics, cycling, equestrian, judo, swimming, triathlon and rowing.
