Anglican Church to build school

The Anglican Church (Diocese of Harare) in Zimbabwe, through its Mothers’ Union arm, has embarked on a project to establish a school for the less-privileged in Caledonia.

Speaking at the ground-breaking ceremony last week, leader of the initiative Mrs Faith Gandiya said there was need for a school in the area as children were walking long distances to Mabvuku.

“We have decided to have a school in Caledonia, Harare, to provide education facilities to young children in the society that is Caledonia Township, a settlement southeast of Harare,” she said.

“The school, called Mothers’ Hope Anglican School, is in response to a desperate social situation identified in the area.” Mrs Gandiya said Caledonia Township had a population of over 150 000 and the children relied on schools that were five to eight kilometres away. — Herald Reporter.
