THe sky is the limit for Chikwaka-based Anglican gospel choir Trinity Singers who have released a 11-track album that carries nine Anglican hymns and two choruses. “Jerusarema”, “Vatsvene Mumoyo” and “Ndamuka Mangwanani” are some of the hymns on the release while the choruses are “Nzira Imbiri” and “Denga Razarurwa”.The album was launched last weekend at St Peters Mabelreign church.
In an interview organising secretary Richman Mawaza said the release comes after numerous people from different churches approached the Trinity Singers Chikwaka to showcase their musical proficiency at various events.
“The tracks on the album are actually Anglican hymns as we realised that it is necessary to compile and put them on CDs so that people from around the country are able to listen to our music without necessarily having to hire us.
“We have realised that our fan base is quite wider than we thought as some people who are not from Anglican have been requesting for our music. We decided to write two choruses on the album to cater for those who do not enjoy the Anglican hymns,” he said.
Mawaza said Trinity Singers have managed to establish a niche market as they are frequently booked to perform at various functions which include memorial services, funerals, weddings and birthday parties amongst other functions.
He also highlighted that they are looking forward to international tours this year.
“We have been invited to perfom in the United Kingdom and we are already doing the paper work, if all goes well then it means we will be touring U.K for the first time,” he said.
Trinity Singers Chikwaka rose to fame with the song “Job” in 2008 and the group has performed in various areas in the country.
