The delegation is led by Ambassador Agostinho Tavares da Sila Neto.

A welcome dinner was organised for the delegation to have a feel of Zimbabwe’s cuisine and culture, as the visit also speaks to promoting tourism in the country’s prime destination.

According to the itinerary, the delegation will tour the Victoria Falls Border on Tuesday morning before visiting the Kazungula Border later.

They will also have engagement with Government officials.

They will tour the Victoria Falls Rainforest on Wednesday morning and have free time in the afternoon to interact with locals, do shopping, and sightseeing.

The first group will depart on Thursday with the last group leaving on Friday for South Africa en route to their country.

Welcoming the delegation, Cllr Moyo said: “It is with great pleasure that I extend my heartfelt greetings to each member of your delegation. Your presence here is a testament to the spirit of collaboration and the pursuit of excellence in border management practices in the region. Borders serve as the gateways to nations, where cultures converge, economies thrive and friendships are forged.

“Through this benchmarking visit, you have a unique opportunity to delve into the intricacies of border management, exchange insights, and explore innovative approaches to address common challenges. Furthermore, this benchmarking visit will provide a unique opportunity for us to strengthen our bonds, enhance our capabilities, and build a foundation for sustained cooperation in border management,” said Cllr Moyo.

He said Zimbabwe is committed to principles of diplomacy, mutual respect and shared development objectives.

Cllr Moyo said: “Together, we can explore innovative solutions, exchange expertise, and develop strategies that will contribute to the advancement of our borders and facilitate seamless cross-border interactions.
