LUANDA –– Angola’s business volume of environment protection technologies recorded a growth between 75 percent and 78 percent in 2013, Angolan Secretary of State for New Technologies and Environmental Quality Syanga Abilio has said. The official called on local and foreign investors to bring clean technologies to the African country, the official news agency Angop reported on Wednesday.
Speaking to the preparatory committee for the 4th International Fair of Environmental Technologies in Luanda on Tuesday, Quality Syanga Abilio said the business volume of environment protection technologies and products doubled to some 50 billion Kwanzas (500 million U.S. dollars) in 2013 as a result of investments in energy, water treatment, recycling industry and other economic spheres, which also created 1,500 new jobs for local people.
“We predict a growing trend in coming years, and we think that this is a relevant indicator to awaken local and foreign investors to support this sector,” the official said.
He said the Angolan ministry of environment encouraged investment in the country to bring in clean technologies with less negative impact and ensuring better practices that lead to better living standards, resources sustainability and less pressure on natural resources.
The 4th International Fair of Environmental Technologies will go from June 5 to June 8 at the Luanda International Fair with the participation of potential investors from Angola, South Africa, Germany, Brazil, China, Spain, United States, Portugal and France, organisers said. – Xinhua.
