Walking for close to 20 km in search of medical services for the people of Kambanje in Ward 13 of Mudzi District will soon be thing of the past following the construction of Kambanje clinic funded by devolution funds.

The clinic is 95 percent complete, and villagers are happy with the development.

Construction of this clinic means that the Second Republic is fulfilling its promises to bring services closer to its people.

Mudzi RDC executive recently toured the construction site to assess progress.

Villagers expressed joy and thanked the Government. Mr Timothy Antonio from Mutesva Village in Ward 13 said the people from nearby villages will benefit a lot from the clinic.

“This clinic will be a major relief to us and many thanks to our Government led by President Mnangagwa for these devolution funds. I also want to thank Mudzi Rural District council for using devolution funds in this ward, we are thankful,” he said.

Mr Tonderai Chiripanyanga from Tashupika village commended the Mudzi Rural District Council for directing devolution funds and other resources towards the speedy construction of Kambanje clinic.

He also appealed to Government to assist in the construction of a bridge at Mudzi River, near the clinic so that even if the river is flooded, other villagers will still easily access health services at Kambanje clinic.

Amai Emmanuel Chahwanda who stays in ward 13 welcomed the development.

“As women we are the most affected when health services are not close by. This clinic has been constructed for us women. Many of us suffered especially when we had labour pains. A lot of women gave birth at home, some along the way to the next clinic.

“We would risk being devoured by wild animals along the way, some would even die before reaching the next clinic. Now we have a clinic nearby, even our elderly will be served nearby. Thank you to our Government for remembering us. As women from these nearby villagers, we are thankful and we want to express our gratitude to everyone who made construction of this clinic possible.”

Amai Million Chiripanyanga also thanked the Second Republic.

“This clinic is almost complete and soon we will be served here. Our other request is for a bridge to be built on Mudzi River. We also need a secondary school nearby. However, I want to say thank you to President Mnangagwa for this clinic, may you also extend this gesture to other communities,” she said. Ward 13 councillor Walter Nyamukondiwa said there has been notable progress of development in various sectors across the Mudzi district.

“Kambanje clinic is being funded through devolution funds. Ever since the introduction of devolution funds, we are benefiting a lot. This clinic is central and its completion will assist a lot of villagers. The next clinic is more than 15 km from here so this clinic would be a major relief to many villagers. “We thank Government for availing these funds. I also thank the community who are participating in its construction. Chairman for Mudzi RDC Alderman Tivirai Chitemamuswe said devolution funds have greatly changed people’s lives in Mudzi district.

“We are doing a lot of development projects in Mudzi using devolution funds and this is transforming our communities, thanks to the Second Republic.”
