CHAMPIONS Ngezi Platinum Stars and Chibuku Super Cup winners, Dynamos, will get the season underway in February next year when they clash in the Castle Challenge Cup.
The two clubs will use that battle to also prepare for their participation in the CAF Champions League and Confederation Cup tournaments. The venue and date for the Castle Challenge Cup are yet to be revealed.
“The Castle Lager PSL season will commence with the Castle Challenge Cup in February 2024.
“We would like to thank all our partners, fans and stakeholders for their unwavering support during the year.
“We wish you a happy and safe festive season,” read a statement from PSL.
Ironically the two sides, Ngezi Platinum and Dynamos, met in the Chibuku Super Cup final in which DeMbare beat the hosts 2-0 at Baobab. Ngezi won their first Castle Lager Premier Soccer League title while DeMbare ended their nine-year wait for major silverware by scooping the Chibuku Super Cup. Both teams are sweating over where they will play their home games with the recently commissioned Heart Stadium in Waterfalls appearing to be their best bet. Those behind the Heart Stadium believe it will be ready for matches at the start of the new year.
They plan to mark the event with a high-profile game likely to feature either a major foreign club or foreign stars.
