Another feather in the cap for Mbada

Mbada Diamonds corporate services executive Mr George Manyaya said the award was a result of teamwork and the mining company’s motto to harness diamonds for the people.
“We are trying to touch all sectors of the country. For instance, we have built state-of-the-art houses for people relocated to Arda Transau, road construction and food aid we distribute to vulnerable communities in Manicaland quarterly.
“We also have a scholarship fund, the Mbada 21st Jewel Scholarship Fund, meant to assist 10 disadvantaged but academically gifted children proceed with their education at boarding schools,” he said.
Mr Manyaya said as a company they were given the responsibility to mine diamonds for the benefit of Zimbabweans.
“The mineral resources belong to Zimbabweans and we were mandated to mine these resources on their behalf. We are therefore mindful of the fact that we should give back to the societies we operate in and those in all corners of the country,” Mr Manyaya said.
The company also sponsors the Mbada Diamonds Cup and has supported various national soccer teams on numerous occasions.
He welcomed the support and recognition Mbada Diamonds has received from various stakeholders.
Some of the awards conferred to Mbada Diamonds this year include that of best exporter in Manicaland, the best company empowering SMEs, best company investing in community social responsibility in Manicaland — all by the Zimbabwe National Chamber of Commerce.
Others include the award by the Service Excellence Awards on corporate social responsibility and three more safety awards from NSSA.
