ANOTHER LOW POINT FOR OUT-OF-SORTS CHEVRONS

THE Chevrons should have been playing at the Cricket World Cup currently underway in India.

But, they blew their chance by losing their final two matches.

Now, they have just suffered a humiliating series defeat at the hands of lowly Namibia after losing the fifth and final T20 International by eight runs.

They were chasing a small target of 102 at the United Sports Ground in Windhoek yesterday.

Zimbabwe were 93/7, needing just nine runs with three wickets in hand, and seven balls remaining but lost all those wickets for no run for what will rank as their worst ever T20I performance.

That number eight batsman, Luke Jongwe, was the topscorer with 24 runs from 16 balls, before being run out, tells the story of yet another miserable batting innings for the Chevrons when faced with a defining moment.

With the win, Namibia won the series 3-2 against a Zimbabwe side that led 2-1 with two matches remaining.

It was the first time in the series that a team batting first won.

Johannes Jonathan Smit took three wickets for 14 runs in four overs and was duly named player-of-the-match having scored 29 runs from 28 balls earlier in the game.

Namibia now have a 6-4 advantage over Zimbabwe in T20I matches after a similar 3-2 series win in Bulawayo last year.
