“When people have nothing to do they end up engaging in dangerous activities. Some of our peers are busy stealing while others are wasting their lives abusing drugs and harmful substances. These sporting activities help us deal with such temptations in a big way,” said NODE Midlands Provincial chairperson, Mr Knowledge Tshuma.

The organizers of the event said they will take the program to rural areas so that no place is left behind.

“The President is very clear on what he expects from every citizen. Drugs are destroying the future generations and we are here to ensure that we safeguard them. We are very happy that our programmes are getting a by-in from various stakeholders. We are appealing for more support so that we eradicate the scourge of drug and substance abuse,” said Mr Tshuma.

Kwekwe Distarict Development Coordinator, Mr Fortune Mupungu said Government supports the anti-drugs campaign.

“As Government, we are seized with the issue of drug and substance abuse which is threatening to destroy society. We welcome such interventions. We urge the corporate world to come on board to assist us in curbing this vice,” said Mr Mupungu.
