BULAWAYO-based DJ and producer Apollo Soule is carving a name for himself after a standout performance at the latest HiNDE event, a fast-growing celebration of culture and Afro house music.
The event, a brainchild of established DJ Nitefreak, is a platform that showcases both local and international talent. It has grown into a key fixture in Zimbabwe’s house music scene.
Held on 8 March at Hillside Dams, the show saw Apollo Soule, born Sicelo Ngwenya, take centre stage with a diverse and engaging set that won over revellers. Riding on the momentum, the emerging DJ says he is now prioritising his music career, with ambitions of performing on global stages.
“My inspiration is telling real, relatable stories about struggle, ambition, love and growth. I want my music to feel honest and give listeners something they can connect with,” he said.
His latest project, Stones and Bones, reflects a period of personal transformation.
“It came from a time of growth and self-reflection. Music became my way of processing emotions, with each track capturing a different moment from that journey,” he said.
Apollo Soule, however, noted that collaboration remains a challenge.
“Working with local artistes can be difficult, while international collaborations come with language barriers and high costs,” he said.
Despite this, he has set his sights firmly on the global market, with plans to release an album and several singles featuring artistes from Colombia, Spain, Brazil, South Africa, Venezuela and Zimbabwe. He also hopes to grace major local platforms such as Carpe Diem, Garden of House and Shoko Festival.
