Apostle collaborates with top chanters

SOUTH Africa-based artist and preacher, Rashid Sean Maulana, is going places.

The chanter, who started off as a Zim dancehall star before venturing into gospel music, has released a 16-track album named Zvachinja.

Better known as Apostle Sean, the singer collaborated with Jah Child on the opening track named Munamato while Maggikal featured on the song Shanda.

HKD member, Crystal, featured on the son Tinzwirei Tsitsi.

Comedienn, Bee Wezhira featured on the track Level to Level.

He also collaborated with Trymore Bande on the song Ndisiye Ndifare while Kudzi Nyakudya featured on the song He is Alive.

Some of the songs on the album include Pfekai, Kunze Kuchaedza, Peace in My Heart, Zvoda Ndinemi, Usadaro, The God of Joseph, Manzwi Engirozi, Fona, Don’t Judge Me and the title track Zvachinja.

It was co-produced by Tichwise, Lyton Ngolomi and Shawndee.

Apostle Sean, who moved to South Africa in 2015, releases music on his birthday.

“I make sure I release an album every year on my birthday.

“I first released a gospel album called Musandinamata on July 10, 2020, featuring Tocky Vibes, Bethan Pasinawako, Kabhidha and Tinashe Magacha.

“It carries 14 tracks and some of the songs are trending on YouTube,” he said.

Outlining his vision as a gospel artist, Apostle Sean said:

“I would like to have a positive impact in the society through positive messages that I preach through both music and my message and other charity stuff that I do.

“Many people will be shocked that I am an apostle and Prophet Makandiwa is my inspiration.

“When I see young people of my age succeeding it drives me too.

“My motto is excellence in all,” he said.

Before finding Christ, Apostle Sean said he was a naughty boy.

“I used to give my parents a hard time but it changed later when I was born again.

“I don’t regret turning to Christ my Saviour,” he said.

Apostle Sean has started a church in Johannesburg.

“Let’s include God in everything we do, let’s love each other and be united.

“I have started a church called Jiam Ministries. Jiam means Jesus in action movement.

“Ministry is my daily life and music occupies my free time so it’s balancing up because music covers up for my lonely time.”

He was born at Rutsanana Clinic in Glen Norah, Harare.

He attended Kudakwashe Primary School in the same neighbourhood and then moved to Darwendale before enrolling at Kutama College for his secondary education.

He is single.
