AN Apostle has waded into the fallout triggered by the dismissal of Herbert Maruwa from his post as Dynamos coach.

Maruwa was fired last week and replaced by his assistant Genesis Mangombe.

Apostle Benjamin Joseph Maruta, of the New Life Pentecost Church, who is a Dynamos fan, said he was not happy with the gaffer’s dismissal.

He was speaking at an occasion where members of the Dynamos Supporters Association Harare Chapter remembered the nine fans who perished in a road traffic accident seven years ago.

The leadership of the fans attended New Life Pentecost church where they handed over food hampers to the surviving spouses, children and relatives.

Apostle Murata hailed the Association for standing with the families since 2016.

“God loves cheerful givers and I want to thank the Association for keeping the spirits of the departed alive through supporting their families.

“I am also a Dynamos and Manchester United fan, I follow football.

“Asi kudzingwa kwa coach hakuna kundifadza nekuti haana chaakatadza pamawonero angu,” said Apostle Murata.

Association chairperson, Cain Nyambuya, said Apostle Murata has been their all-weather friend.

“As an Association, we have been receiving support from Apostle Murata and we are aware that his ministry was behind him,” said Nyambuya.

“We are here to thank New Life Pentecost church family and its administration.”

Seven Dynamos Football Club supporters perished on the spot and 16 were seriously injured when an Iveco Sprinter they were travelling in burst a rear tyre, veered off the road and rolled three times in Battlefields on the Harare-Bulawayo Highway on June 11, 2016.

Two more died while admitted in hospital.

They were travelling to Gweru for a game between Dynamos and Chapungu.
