THOUSANDS of worshippers from various apostolic church denominations converged at Madzibaba Moses’ shrine in Highfield on Saturday.

Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services Minister, Monica Mutsvangwa, spent the day with the worshippers, who raised concerns about the stigma attached to their faith, clashes with Harare City Council over places of worship and lack of accommodation.

Minister Mutsvangwa was accompanied by Deputy Minister of Public Service, Labour and Social Welfare, Lovemore Matuke.

Apostolic Faith Church board chairperson Lloyd “Madzibaba Moses” Gwasarira from the Johanne Masowe weChishanu told Minister Mutsvangwa that society despises white garment churches, but come to them to seek help, when faced with problems.

“As Mapostori, we respect our Government and we do not want to be left out in developing our nation,” said Madzibaba Moses.

“A number of people, including our City Fathers, do not consider our issues, which include places of worship, residential stands and positions in higher office.

“Our members also tie the knot and we would be happy to see one of our leaders being considered as a marriage officer.

“Vakatongoziva chete kuti urimupostori vanobva vatishora, asi vakawirwa nematambudziko vanoverevedza neusiku kutsvaga kubatsirwa.

“We have come together as white garment churches to speak with one voice as we are prepared to work hand in hand with Government,” he said.

They hailed the Government for maintaining peace in the country and for allowing freedom of worship.

Minister Mutsvangwa promised them she would convey their grievances to higher offices for consideration.

She said the Second Republic values everyone in society.

“I have heard your concerns and I will make sure it reaches higher offices for consideration,” said Min Mutsvangwa.

“What I am sure of is that the Second Republic does not look down upon people.

“President ED Mnangagwa values everyone in society and I am sure he will find time to meet all apostolic faith churches.

“Government is pleased to work together with churches in fighting criminal activities and also the abuse of drugs,” she said.

Madzibaba Moses is deputised by Tsungai Ushe from the Runyararo Apostolic Faith Church.

Other members of the Apostolic Faith Church board are Bishop Lazarus Nyamombe (Zviratidzo Zvevapostori), Bishop Matanhike (Guta raJehovha), Bishop Munhira (Mugodhi AFC), Madzibaba Laxod (Jerusalem Apostolic Church) and Bishop Chigorimbo (Zvishamiso Zvevapostori).
