Apparels aplenty at Zim Fashion Week

event saw designers from as far as Germany and France converging in Harare to display the latest fashion trends in the world.
The show, which run under the theme, “Environment Awareness, Think and Live Green”, saw designers exhibiting apparel made from environment friendly material.
Founder and director of the show Priscilla Chigariro said that the event was a success judging by the number of fashion enthusiasts who attended the show.
“The fashion week was well attended and everything went according to plan,” she said.
The fashion week also saw three young designers – Tatenda Shoniwa, Znzorzi Adby and Sharon Mhandu – walking way with sewing machines, Apple iPods and a bursary to study fashion and designing at Studio 05 school in Johannesburg, South Africa.
Designers that took part in the fashion week included Sindiso Sibanda and Joyce Chimanye among others.
The show was spiced up by the performances of man of the moment Freeman of the hit song “Joina City” and MC Chita, among others.
Top socialites in Zimbabwe, who included Harare’s Mayor, Muchadeyi Masunda and Zimbabwe’s representative in the Big Brother Africa reality series Vimbai Mutinhiri also attended the show.
Chigariro said that next year’s event would be bigger and better.
“Next year’s show will be bigger as more designers are expected to take part in the show,” said Chigariro.
She added that Italian designers are expected to be part of the 2012 fashion show.
Zimbabwe Fashion Week is an annual show that was launched last year by the local designing industry in an effort to help artistes keep abreast with the latest fashion trends.
