Appeal for funds

radio founder Reverend Patrick Mizha told The Herald that the station, which is run by volunteers and is licensed by the Broadcasting Association of Zimbabwe, needs funding to enable it set up production and transmission studios.

“The country’s major referral hospital has a huge audience base. At the hospital, there are 3 500 workers, a bed occupation of 1 200 and many visitors who come here daily. The hospital has a good listenership base that we can count on,” he said.

“We need assistance so that we can buy broadcast equipment and keep our hospital audience entertained and informed. Our listeners can be empowered through informative programmes on public health and community activities.”

Hospinet was founded in 1999 and established through a deed of trust in 2006. At present, the radio only plays music. Rev Mhizha said the radio plans to have programmes that cover live phone-ins, interviews, religious teaching, comedy, children’s programmes, women and maternal issues, family life and a variety of medical issues once it secures adequate funding.
