Application thrown out

Musarurwa, Rebecca Mafukeni, Last Maengahama and Simon Mapanzure remained in custody after Justice Chinembiri Bhunu found no changed circumstances warranting their release on bail.

The 24, who were granted bail end of last year, had sought to have their reporting conditions scrapped and to get their passports back.
However, the court dismissed the application on the same basis of failure by the defence team to establish changed circumstances.

The defence team led by Ms Beatrice Mtetwa mounted the two applications after Mr Nyazamba sought postponement of the trial to Monday.
Justice Bhunu, however, granted the Attorney General’s Office’s application to have the trial postponed to Monday to allow arrangements to bring a Cuban doctor to court.

Law officer Mr Edmore Nyazamba requested for time to make arrangements to bring a pathologist Dr Alviero-Aguero to give evidence.
The 29 suspects are being accused of killing Inspector Petros Mutedza, who was based at Borrowdale Police Station in Harare.
