Apply for EU scholarships, students urged

EUROPEAN Union (EU) Ambassador to Zimbabwe, Jobst Kirchmann, encouraged students to apply for scholarships at the Africa Students and Alumni Forum (ASAF) platform.

Speaking at an event held in Harare, Kirchmann told students that ASAF is organised by former scholarship beneficiaries.

“ASAF is organised by members who work as volunteers facilitating recruitment of students managed by the European Union in close cooperation with the African Union.

“ASAF provides first-hand information about mobility programmes of the AU and EU.

“Creation of ASAF was inspired by the Abidjan Declaration after the 4th Africa-Europe Youth Summit.

“ASAF also strives to become a leading partner for student and Alumni Africa, and to motivate higher education students and professionals to take advantage of international mobility opportunities,” he said.

One of the beneficiaries, Tsitsi Bwetenga, urged other university students to participate.

“Alumni Forum is the coming together of students who have benefited. The mission is to spread the word and to mentor so that they know that there is funding for scholarships for them to pursue further studies,” said Bwetenga.
