April to decide Mangombe’s future

Sports Reporter

GENESIS Mangombe’s future as Dynamos coach looks set to be decided this month as DeMbare face four tricky fixtures in the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League.

After promising so much in the off-season and securing a contract as substantive head coach, Mangombe has had a disappointing start to the campaign.

They lost the Castle Lager Challenge match against league champions Ngezi Platinum, going down 0-2 at Baobab.

Dynamos started the season on a losing note, going down 1-2 against Highlanders at Barbourfields and managed just six points from the next four fixtures against Hwange (2-2), Yadah (0-0), Bikita Minerals (1-0) and Bulawayo Chiefs (0-0).

They lie eighth, seven points behind leaders Highlanders, who have won four of their opening five fixtures.

Pressure has been on Mangombe since the first match and the longer he goes without convincing victories, he will be on his way out.

Yesterday the Premier Soccer League released its fixture programme for the remainder of April and Dynamos have tricky fixtures starting with a trip to Shamva for a grudge match against Simba Bhora at Wadzanai on Sunday.

Simba Bhora have, in their squad, a number of former Dynamos personnel as players, coaches and executive.

There will be the Independence Day trophy to deal with before hosting TelOne at Rufaro on April 21 and then a trip to Baobab for a date with Chegutu Pirates in a midweek fixture on April 25.  Dynamos will then conclude the month with a home match against Ngezi Platinum at Rufaro on April 28.
