Archers march on

ARCHERS are six points away from winning the Bulawayo Metropolitan Province Darts League title after beating Zimbabwe School of Mines 26-13 on Wednesday night.The result saw the marauding Archers team taking their unbeaten matches tally to 25.

Archers enjoy a two-point lead over Railstars and if they win six out of their seven matches, they will be crowned champions as the railmen can only end the season with 30 points.

An elated Archers captain Ernest Maphepha Sibanda said he was looking forward to lifting his first silverware in darts.
“I have won championships in football with Highlanders and now I can safely say I am on course to win the darts title with a well deserving Archers.

The good thing about our team is that everyone is dedicated, disciplined and devoted to seeing the team win.
“We know there are seven matches left before the season ends but we remain humble and taking each game as it comes. We know that everyone dreams of beating us but we are determined to make sure that we win the championship in style,” said Sibanda.

The star-studded Archers’ championship hopes have been pinned on the likes of Brian Ndlovu, Nkululeko Ncube, youngster Tafadzwa Mtomba and Albert Tawanda.

Second placed Railstars who were supposed to take on suspended Zimbabwe Saints were awarded a 21-0 scoreline. New Dawn also walked over Civil Aviation Authority of Zimbabwe who failed to turn up for the match and got a 21-0 scoreline.

Highlanders continued to sing the blues as they suffered their second consecutive defeat going down 18-21 to third placed Old Nic Mine.
“We will get it right it’s only a matter of time. We are going through a bad patch but I am sure this is a passing phase,” said Lethukuthula Nkomo, the Highlanders captain.
