AGRICULTURAL Rural Development Authority (Arda) chairman Mr Irvine Craig has urged the nation to fully support President Mnangagwa’s agricultural vision of ensuring that the country retains its food security status in Southern Africa and beyond.

Zimbabwe has, in recent years, been heading in the right direction towards achieving food sufficiency through year-round agricultural production.
Mr Craig’s sentiments come after the Minister of Lands, Agriculture, Fisheries, Water and Rural Development, Dr Anxious Masuka, recently revealed that President Mnangagwa directed that 25 000 hectares of land should be irrigable by 2030, while a US$19 million revolving fund has been availed to Arda to support the initiative.
Speaking at a field day organised by Agritex and Agriseeds at Huwana Village in Bulilima District, Matabeleland South Province, on Wednesday, Mr Craig urged the nation to vote for President Mnangagwa when given the opportunity.
“We are following President Mnangagwa’s Vision 2030 to ensure that we fill our storages with grains, that the seeds are sufficient, as we want to ascertain that we have an upper middle income economy where we eat the food that we want because of mass production.
“President Mnangagwa is a father for everyone, and I am not influencing anyone when the time to vote comes, but I believe we should thank him for the developments he has made, especially the viability of the agricultural sector. We should really thank and support his vision,” said Mr Craig.
