Agricultural and Rural Development Authority (ARDA) chief executive officer, Mr Tinotenda Mhiko, has been awarded the 2023 CEO of the year in recognition of his outstanding innovative leadership, which has positively transformed the parastatal.
The award was announced at the prestigious CEO Africa Roundtable awards ceremony held recently, bringing together leading captains of industry in Zimbabwe’s economic sector.
Two months ago, Mr Mhiko had been recognised as winner in the Super Platinum category by the Zimbabwe CEO’s Network.
Among some of the achievements under his leadership, ARDA was named as the best parastatal at the Zimbabwe International Trade Fair (ZITF) this year, winning the first prize.
ARDA also emerged as the best parastatal in Zimbabwe at the Zimbabwe Agricultural Show (ZAS), and received the gold prize after coming first.
The CEO Africa Roundtable is a platform for Africans in decision making positions to interact among themselves, as well as with foreign investors and international institutions.
Its mission is to promote economic growth on the African continent.
As a result of the transformation trajectory spearheaded by Mr Mhiko, ARDA has made strides in boosting the national grain reserve, contributing to national food security and self-sufficiency.
In line with its mandate, ARDA is resuscitating over 460 irrigation schemes across the country in a Whole of Government and private sector approach, while it is on course to establishing 35 000 village business units, including 9 600 school business units and 3 000 youth business units, which are being registered as companies.
All these business units are managed by ARDA under the V30 Accelerator Model, in a Whole-of-Government approach.
