ZIFA Southern Region Division One log leaders Arenel Movers got back to winning ways after the away 1-1 draw with Hwange’s DRC United winning 4-0 at home against Mountain Climbers at the weekend.
Captain Brian Jaravazi grabbed a brace and Reason Sibanda adding his name to the scoresheet.
They remain on top of the log with a seven-point lead ahead of second placed ZPC Hwange. They are only side that remains unbeaten this far.
One of the assist providers, Leroy Ndlovu said the win meant a lot to them after the dropped points the previous weekend.
“It is not always easy to bounce back after dropping points especially for us, as we are now used to winning. But I am happy that I managed to get an assist for one of my teammates,” said Ndlovu.
If Arenel win their next match against Ajax Hotspurs, they will go to the second round without conceding defeat.
It may be the right tonic to boost their confidence towards their championship quest.
Second placed ZPC Hwange managed to grab an important win in a hard fought contest against Bosso90. The victory meant that they remain within touching distance from the log leaders.
Third placed Talen Vision dropped points at home after they drew nill all with Binga Pirates. They are now nine points behind Arenel.
At the bottom, 16th positioned Ajax Hotspurs got their second victory of the season, which might prove to be important in their fight for survival, as the season wears on.
CIWU pulled a stunner edging Indlovu Iyanyathela 1-0.
The first half of the season will be wrapped up by midweek fixtures starting from Wednesday with the headlining fixture being a local derby between Ajax and Arenel.
Both teams will be coming from victories hence the contest promises to be exciting.
It is going to be a David and Golliath affair.
