ARENEL TEAM MANAGER QUITS

ARENEL Movers team manager, Kudzayi Mhandire, has quit the club amid unrest in the Premiership newboys’ camp.

The players are refusing to train ahead of their game against Simba Bhora at Wadzanai on Saturday.

They are demanding that they be paid their salaries and winning bonuses.

Mhandire was in charge of the side when they won promotion but changed roles to become team manager as he did not have the required papers to sit on the bench as head coach.

In the resignation letter, seen by Zimpapers Sport, Mhandire did not go into detail as to why he decided to jump ship.

“This letter serves to notify you that I am resigning from Arenel Movers Football Club with immediate effect.

“Thank you very much for the good and bad times we shared and I hope the team progresses well.

“Painful as it is, I had to make this difficult decision,” said Mhandire.

He is already linked with a move back to Division One.

A player, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said Mhandire’s departure was a huge blow to the club.

“It’s sad, he is one guy who was motivating the boys when things were tough. Life goes on but it appears tough times lie ahead.”

Efforts to get in touch with club administrator, Juma Phiri, were fruitless with indications he is out of the country.

Last month, in his post-match interview after losing 0-2 to Yadah, Arenel coach Farai Tawachera hinted that there were problems at the club.
